The World of Indian Chessboxing
Chessboxing is a unique hybrid sport gaining popularity in select sporting circles in India. It is what it sounds like — a mix of chess and boxing, meant to be a battle of both brain and brawn. Its origins go back to a French graphic novel written in 1993. A Dutch performance artist called Iepe Rubingh then ‘invented’ the game, going on to popularise it in over a dozen countries worldwide. This video created in anticipation of India’s visit to Turkey, to participate in the 3rd World Chessboxing Championship.
I directed and edited this video as original content for the advertising company I worked for post college. I pitched this project, and managed research, budgeting as well as production.
