Vasant Talkies
Finalist the Pune International Short Film Festival
Vasant Talkies is a 25-minute documentary about Vasant Cinema, a century old cinema hall in Pune, India. Amidst the growing popularity of posh franchise-based multiplexes, it is one of the last surviving cinemas of its kind. In the face of India’s rapidly changing film viewing culture, Vasant retains a loyal clientele and a heartwarming charm. This film is about the people that make the space what it is and their struggle to stay in business.
I directed and edited this film as part of my undergraduate thesis in culture studies and filmmaking.
